This walk led by motoring historian Leon Mitchell celebrates the legacy of South Australian motoring pioneer Vivian Lewis, who was responsible for the first petrol-powered motor cycle and motor car constructed in South Australia. He went on to create what became Adelaide's most vibrant Motor House before the First War, with its customers drawn from Adelaide's most wealthy and influential families.

We’ve selected four cars from our collection to offer visitors a ride around the museum grounds. Visitors can take a ride in a 1927 Model A Ford, a 1959 MG Magnette, a 1938 Diamond T Graebers Bus, or a 1948 Stylemaster Chevrolet.
On Tuesday 17 March Charley Boorman, of Long Way Round fame, will ride into the National Motor Museum’s carpark a week into the Compass Expeditions’ 10-day Sydney-to-the-Outback Tour, where they’ll be met by Australian motorcycling royalty - Moto GP Legend Jerry Burgess and Dakar Legends Andy Haydon, Toby Price and Dave Schwartz.

Now in its 5th year, Sunday 22 February will see the small Ford make a big impact at the National Motor Museum. Presented by Ford RS Owners Club of SA, The Small Ford Show promises to be a great gathering of vehicles from Anglias right through to Zephyrs. With all Ford lovers welcome on the day, the club encourages small Ford owners to enter.

Enter the National Motor Museum's latest LEGO competition! Create your own magical vehicle using LEGO supplied at the museum. There's a Lego trophy and a $250 LEGO voucher for winners in each of the four age categories - 4-6 years old, 7-9, 10-13 and 14 . The competition will be judged and prizes awarded at the end of the school holidays.
